Empowering Youth: The Erasmus+ "Democracy Power: Communication and Relationships" Project in Bicăcel

The Erasmus+ project “Democracy Power: Communication and Relationships” took place over 7 days in the village of Bicăcel. Participants from various countries, including Portugal, Armenia, Ukraine, Hungary, and Denmark, gathered to discuss the role of democracy in civil society, the rules and opportunities it presents, and to learn about different types of democracies and their implementation in their own countries.

The participants also explored the role of media in democratic societies and the significance of fact-checking. In addition to theoretical knowledge, they received practical tools to verify the credibility of articles, videos, and other media. Workshops were conducted to help participants identify fake news based on wording, sources, and location references, similar to the methods used by professional fact-checkers. They were also introduced to the INVID tool, which aids in fact-checking videos. During one workshop, participants were challenged to verify the real location of a video.

Beyond the theoretical sessions, participants enjoyed various fun activities in the picturesque village. They visited the forest, made a bonfire, roasted marshmallows, and engaged in energy-boosting activities. They were also fortunate to attend the “Art Nouveau” festival in Oradea, where they spent a day experiencing the local culture.

NGO ETC continues to develop new projects for young people to help them gain knowledge in democracy and media, while also exploring new places like Bicăcel. If you want to join us, please find more information here.
